Each door is designed and crafted to utilize the beauty and character of reclaimed Century-Old Mexican hardwoods. The builders of the Southwest Missions in the late 1800s found the beauty and durability, the rich colors, and freely wandering grain patterns of Mesquite, Parota and other choice Mexican hardwoods to be very desirable for their entry doors. These hardwood species, from the harsh environments of the Sonoran Desert, are in very limited supply today. Sonoran Door Company uses reclaimed lumber from old Southwest Missions and other sources thus allowing the beauty and character of these Old-World materials to be renewed, while eliminating the impact on the scarce remaining hardwood resources. These magnificent Custom Doors are available in Mesquite, Huanacaxtle (Parota), Spanish Oak, Knotty Alder, Desert Willow and Old Mexican Pine.

The craftsmen that recreate these doors use the original Old-World traditional hand-cut mortise and tenon construction, and hand plane every one. The unique nature of each door has led the Sonoran artisans to individually name each one reflecting on their historic origin. Hand forged ironwork - clavos, straps, and intricate wrought iron panels - are optional to accent these beautiful doors. Pre-finishing in light, medium or dark stain with many coats of handrubbed oil finish is available. Options include unfinished - sanded and sealed - ready for staining.
